Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

• Account data: your email address, target/native language, chosen topics and sources, delivery time, and timezone.
• Learning data: your calibration responses and level estimate, and your easier/harder taps and edition feedback, used to tune the difficulty of your editions.
• Usage data: email opens, link clicks, and similar engagement events used to measure activation and retention.

We do not ask for or store passwords — sign-in is passwordless via a magic link sent to your email.

2. How we use it

We use your data to assemble and deliver your daily edition at the right level and time, to let you tune difficulty, and to understand whether the product is working (aggregate activation, retention, and difficulty-fit metrics). We send your editions through our email delivery provider, Resend.

3. AI processing & third-party LLM sub-processor

Lingocito uses a third-party large language model to generate the level-adapted summaries. Our current AI sub-processor is DeepSeek.

• Purpose: Generates the level-adapted Spanish summaries from source article text.
• Data minimization: Source article text and a numeric CEFR level target only — no email, name, or other identifiers. We do not send your email, name, or any account identifier to the AI provider.
• Location: the AI provider may process this data outside the EU. We rely on data minimization and a data-processing agreement to limit exposure, and we keep the provider interface swappable so we can move to a region-appropriate or self-hosted model if needed.

Because summaries are AI-generated they can be inaccurate; consult the linked original as the authoritative source.

4. Data retention & deletion

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending editions and retain only what we need for legal and analytics purposes; you can request full deletion at any time. To request a copy or deletion of your data, email privacy@lingocito.com and we will honor it in line with applicable law (including GDPR and CCPA rights of access, rectification, and erasure).

5. Cookies & local storage

The web app uses your browser's local storage to carry your onboarding progress and your sign-in session token between pages. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Our emails contain standard open- and click-tracking pixels via Resend so we can measure engagement; you can disable image loading in your email client to opt out of open tracking.

6. Who we share with

We share data only with the processors needed to run the service: our email delivery provider (Resend) and our AI sub-processor (DeepSeek), each for the limited purposes above. We do not sell your personal data.
